On Friday, September 12, we were married in a small civil ceremony at the courthouse in our new hometown of Skokie, IL. The day was just like we imagined: relaxed, joyful, and a celebration of
our next chapter as a couple.
We are still working away on merging our two households and reckoning with just how much STUFF we actually have!
To take a quick break from it all, we’re heading to France at the
end of September for a long (heh) weekend honeymoon.

About Us
Brook & Laura met on Election Day in November 2022 through the dating app Hinge. Our first date was a Ten Cat bar on Ashland Avenue in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago. After we cleared some initial red flags, such as having a devoted love of physical media (in the form of 5,000 CDs) and dead wrong opinions about Beyoncé, we continued to grow closer and recognize just how much we have in common. When Laura finally met Brook’s three amazing kids, we knew this was a relationship we were going to keep building for the long haul.
In late 2024, tired of the schlepping back and forth between Evanston and the north side of Chicago, we decided to move
in together. We found a perfect house in the village of Skokie and combined households in late July 2025. As Laura was packing up her apartment in Chicago, Brook took advantage of a quiet moment alone to propose. And Laura said yes! And that’s the story so far…
